Designed by Hervé Surfboards founder Ryan Hervé, The Flex-Tech construction combines a stringer-less, high-density EPS foam core, laminated with a custom designed hybrid fibre cloth which is exclusive to the Hervé Surfboards brand. Flex-Tech essentially stores and releases energy as the surfer transitions through a turn. The technology delivers a high energy, rapid spring back resulting in ultimate speed and drive. The key to the performance lies within the hybrid fibre cloth laminate. Designed to absorb chops and textured water surfaces, eliminating speed chatter and maintaining a solid connection with the water.
The Flex-Tech construction creates a fast, dynamic and highly responsive surfboard that’s been engineered for performance surfing, giving the surfer confidence to take their surfing to the next level.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam is typically the lightest of the foam cores used in surfboard construction, resulting in a much lighter board with increased buoyancy. The advantage of buoyancy is extra paddling speed and increased manoeuvrability. EPS foam is also known for its great durability, it's less likely to deteriorate over time when compared to Polyurethane (PU) foam.
A custom designed hybrid fibre cloth which is exclusive to the Hervé Surfboards brand. The cloth is made up of four materials that each play a unique part in its overall performance. Nylextra fibre, Innegra fiber, and Carbon fibre which is all woven into a single layer of Glass fibre cloth.
The Flex-Tech construction also includes a 45º off-axis fibreglass cloth configuration, this doubles up the lateral strength of the board and maximises flex through the lamination.
Laminated using a high quality, UV resistant Bio Epoxy resin which is verified by Sustainable Surf. The epoxy resin system creates a highly flexible laminate, resilient to cracking and fracturing and has a flexural life span 2-3 times longer than polyester resin.
Finally the board is heat cured in an oven at 50 degrees, heat is an essential factor when using epoxy resins, accurate temperatures must be maintained in order to cure the resin correctly.
A custom web-fused carbon patch helps protect the most vulnerable part of the board which is prone to damage. The direction of the carbon strands also prevent stiffening of the natural linear flex pattern.
Flex-Tech boards are constructed using the most advanced high performance materials. However this does not prevent the board from breakage or compressions. If any damage does occur, make sure to dry out all water from the EPS core before repairing with EPOXY resin ONLY!
It is recommended that you do not leave your board in direct sunlight or in a hot confined space.
